Aarav sat in his car and started driving straight toward his mansion. He was the elder son of the Goenka family—the untouchable family with wealth, respect, and power beyond measure.
Reaching home, Aarav thought of changing his sherwani, but when he glanced at the time, he muttered, “I’ll miss the flight.”
He grabbed his luggage, got back into the car, and drove toward the airport. The distance was long, and the roads were unusually quiet.
Veer was looking arrangements He checked his watch and frowned.
“It’s already late,” he said. “The baarat still hasn’t arrived.”
Veer called the groom’s mother, but she didn’t pick up. He tried again—nothing. Then he called the groom’s father, but his phone was unreachable too.
A knot formed in Veer’s chest. He quickly called his father.
“Papa, the baarat still hasn’t arrived,” Veer said. “And no one is picking up their phone.”
“Okay,” Rajveer replied calmly. “I’ll call them.”
Rajveer dialed the groom’s parents himself, but their phones were now switched off. For a moment, worry flickered across his face. Still, he masked it and said, “They must be busy. Wait a little. Try calling the groom directly—he’ll tell us.”
Veer nodded.
Meanwhile, whispers began spreading among the relatives.
“Why hasn’t the baarat come yet?”
“It’s getting late…”
Rajveer heard everything, yet he raised his voice with confidence.
“The baarat is coming. Everyone, please wait.”
But deep inside, Rajveer heart grew uneasy. Old words echoed in his mind—
"Your daughter’s marriage will not happen… and we will come at her wedding."
Sweat formed on his forehead. He shook his head as if to dismiss the thought.
“No,” he muttered. “Everything was over that day ”
He walked away to check the arrangements.
Inside her room, Siya sat restlessly.
“This is too much,” she said to herself. “The baarat still hasn’t come. Everything will get late like this.”
She sighed and whispered softly,
“Ahh… groom, come fast with your baarat.”
Then Siya cousins entered in the bridal room, and Aarav’s younger sister, Paakhi, came in with them.
“Siya, you’re looking so beautiful,” one of cousin said.
Siya smiled. “Paakhi, sit,” siya said gently.
Paakhi sat beside her and said with admiration, “You look like a queen, didi.”
“Thank you, Paakhi,” Siya replied, smiling warmly.
Deep down, Paakhi felt her heart ache. Siya didi… I really wanted you as my bhabhi.
But she knew now—it would never happen. Her smile slowly faded.
Siya noticed it immediately. “What happened Paakhi?”
Paakhi forced a smile. “Nothing didi ”
Siya smiled back, unaware.
One of the cousins grinned teasingly. “So, today is your first night, hmm? What’s the planning?”
Siya blushed. “My planning is simple—I’ll just sleep.”
Another girl laughed. “No, something must happen between the couple.”
Siya shook her head. “Look at this dress—it’s so heavy. I’ll change, sleep, and wake up only in the morning.”
All the girls burst into laughter.
Paakhi remained silent, her eyes fixed on Siya, silently praying that siya would always smile like this.
Suddenly, strange noises echoed from downstairs. The laughter faded, and everyone grew confused.
“What happened?” Siya asked.
“Ahh, guests must be doing something,” one cousin said lightly. “Don’t worry, beautiful bride.”
Siya smiled and shook her head.
And then—
A gunshot echoed through the mansion.
Everyone’s smiles faded instantly. Downstairs, guests began running in panic.
Siya stood up abruptly. “What happened? That was a gunshot,” she said, moving toward the door.
A cousin stopped her. “Siya, you’re the bride. Don’t go outside.”
“Okay,” Siya said, forcing herself to stay back. “You all go and tell me what’s happening downstairs.”
The girls slowly stepped out of the room Paakhi with them and they closed the door behind them. Siya sat on the edge of the bed, her hands trembling fear and uneasiness crept over her .
Outside, the girls froze. Their hands started shaking as they look in the scene in front of them.
Inside the room, Siya couldn’t take it anymore. She shouted but no one replied Siya stood up again.
“What is happening?” she whispered. “I’ll see it myself.”
She stepped out of the room. The girls stood there, frozen, unable to speak. Siya’s heartbeat raced as she moved past them toward the balcony.
And then She froze.
People were running in every direction. Some men dressed in black were forcefully pushing guests out. Chaos filled the mansion.
Her gaze slowly dropped to the ground floor.
Siya gasped.
Rajveer (Her father) was lying on the floor. Blood surrounded him. He had been shot.
“Papa—!”
Siya screamed.
