Part 17

Aarav was outside when Kavita stopped him.

“Aarav,” she said gently, “did you bring a gift for Siya?”

He paused.

“No, Mom.”

Kavita smiled softly.

“You forgot, it’s okay. Go and bring something for her. It’s her right… and it will also be her face-reveal gift.”

Before he could reply, Kavita walked away.

Aarav stood there, thinking.

What should I gift her?

Suddenly, memories flooded his mind.

Flashback_

Aarav and Veer were passing through the market when Veer suddenly stopped.

He walked straight into a bangle shop.

Aarav followed him, amused.

“Bangles?” Aarav teased. “Veer, you never told me—who is she?”

Veer smiled softly.

“No one.”

Then Veer added,

“Siya loves bangles. I’m buying these for her.”

Aarav looked at Veer and smiled.

At that moment, his respect for Veer deepened.

The love, the care, the bond between the siblings—it silently moved him.

Flashback Ends_

“Bangles…” Aarav murmured.

Without another thought, he headed straight to a bangle shop.

The shop was about to close when Aarav stopped the shopkeeper.

“I want bangles for my wife. Right now.”

The shopkeeper smiled warmly.

“Choose carefully, sir. Your wife is very lucky.”

Aarav returned the smile.

Aarav chose red bangles and a set of multicolored ones—simple, traditional, and full of meaning.

When the shopkeeper told him the price, Aarav handed over a thick bundle of notes.

“Keep it,” Aarav said quietly.

The shopkeeper smiled, blessing him.

Aarav walked away, holding the bangles carefully—as if they were something fragile and precious.

Aarav reached the Goenka mansion. He glanced at his watch and muttered, “It’s 1… she must be waiting for me.”

Without wasting another second, he went straight to the room and opened the door carefully.

She was sleeping.

Her veil covered her face, her back resting against the headboard. He walked toward her quietly and sat in front of her, careful not to wake her. For a few moments, he simply looked at her face.

After a while, she stirred.

He straightened immediately.

She looked at him and said softly, “Ah… I fell asleep.”

“It’s okay,” he replied.

After a brief pause, he asked gently, “May I…?”

Her heart skipped a beat. She gulped, then nodded.

He carefully lifted her veil. She lowered her eyes.

Then he handed her a wrapped box.

She looked at it and asked, “What is it?”

Smiling, he said, “Open it.”

She opened the box and froze.

Inside were beautiful red, multi-colored bangles.

Memories flooded her mind — how Veer and her father used to bring bangles for her. Her eyes turned teary, but she quickly wiped them away and asked, “Why only bangles?”

He replied softly, “Once Veer and I were in the market. He bought some bangles that day and told me you love them.”

Her heartbeat quickened.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

He smiled and said, “Now rest and go to sleep.”

He stood up.

She asked, “Where are you going?”

“I’ll sleep on the couch,” he replied.

“It’s okay,” she said. “Sleep beside me.”

He froze. “No… I’m fine there.”

She looked at him and said calmly, “Just sleep beside me. The couch is uncomfortable.”

Still, he said no.

She sighed. “Don’t worry. I’m not scared of you. Sleep beside me.”Then she paused and said and don't even think to come near to me keep a distance okay!

Aarav tried hard not to smile — she was threatening him and he find it very cute.she herself was asking him to sleep beside her… and had even said she wasn’t scared of him.

She removed her jewellery and stood up. Walking to the wardrobe, she took out a short satin dress. She usually preferred shorts while sleeping. For a moment, she thought about his reaction, then shrugged. Whatever. I’ll wear it I don't care .

She changed and came back into the room.

He had already changed into a shirt and trousers.

The moment he looked at her, he froze.

She was wearing a short dress — quite revealing.

He gulped and immediately turned his face away. She ignored him and sighed.

She lay down on the bed and covered herself with the blanket. He lay down beside her, keeping a respectful distance.

She fell asleep soon, but he turned toward her and simply watched her.

A small smile appeared on his lips as her words echoed in his mind.

Sleep beside me.

I’m not scared of you… don’t worry.Don't you dare to come near me.

He shook his head slightly, feeling his cheeks warm, and finally drifted off to sleep as well.

The next morning, he woke up first, got fresh, and quietly left the room.

After some time, siya woke up and got ready too.

Paakhi came in and said cheerfully, “Bhabhi, wear something nice.”

“Okay,” Siya replied.

Paakhi took her to the wardrobe and began looking through the clothes. After a moment, she said, “Bhabhi, a saree will look beautiful on you.”

“But I don’t know how to wear it,” Siya said.

“I know,” Paakhi smiled. “I’ll help you.”

Siya nodded.

Paakhi picked up a red saree. “Bhabhi, this one will look perfect on you.”

Siya looked at it and nodded — it was truly beautiful.

Paakhi took out the saree. Siya opened her hair and did a little touch-up. She wore the blouse and petticoat; the blouse was short, yet elegant and beautiful.

“Now stand still, okay?” Paakhi said.

Siya nodded.

Paakhi took the fabric and started draping it around her. Siya watched closely, trying to understand how it was done.

Aarav entered the room to take a document.

He stopped.

Siya was standing there, wearing only the blouse, and petticoat it's neck deep unaware of his presence.

He froze… gulped… and immediately turned his face away before walking out.

Siya looked up and said, “I think someone came in and left.”

“Maybe bhai,” Paakhi said softly. “He must have frozen seeing you like this.”

“Paakhi—” Siya said, embarrassed.

Paakhi just smiled.

Siya shook her head.

“It’s done,” Paakhi said.

She placed the pallu over Siya’s shoulder. Siya turned around.

She looked beautiful.

Paakhi smiled and said teasingly, “Bhai will faint for sure”

Siya sighed.

“You wait here, I’m coming,” Paakhi said.

“For what?” Siya asked.

“For the arrangements,” Paakhi replied before leaving.

Siya looked at herself once again, then walked around the room, waiting for Paakhi.
