That night, Rose returned home, her steps light and carefree as if the day had left no trace of the party’s grandeur or Jungkook’s presence. She slipped into her room quietly and collapsed onto her bed, drifting into a peaceful sleep.
Mr. Min entered the room softly, closing the door behind him. He paused for a moment, taking in the sight of his daughter—her face serene, her chest rising and falling with calm breaths. Slowly, he sat beside her bed and ran a hand gently through her hair.
“Princess…” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “You have no idea…”
His heart tightened with a mix of fear and helplessness. I’ve always kept you away from my world, away from danger… but this time, I cannot protect you from Jungkook. No matter what I do, he will find a way to take you. If I try to hide you, he will come for you forcefully.
He sighed deeply, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. I’ve thought of every possible way, but I can’t go against him. If this were about business, I could walk away—but this… this is about your life. Please forgive me, Princess.
He pressed a soft kiss to her hair, lingering for a moment, before quietly standing and leaving the room, leaving her to sleep peacefully—unaware of the storm that now hovered just beyond her world.
The next morning, Rose woke up lazily, stretching her arms and letting out a soft yawn. As usual, she followed her routine, taking her time with breakfast. She always woke up around 10 a.m., and normally, by then, her father had already left for his office.
But today was different. As she finished her meal, a maid entered quietly. “Mam, Sir is calling you to his room.”
Rose raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. Why now? she wondered. Father usually leaves straight for the office. This must be important.
With a sigh, she set her plate aside and walked toward her father’s room, her steps slow but graceful, wondering what could be so urgent.
Rose entered her father’s room, her brows slightly furrowed. “What’s the matter, Father? Why did you call me?”
Mr. Min’s usual composed face was clouded with worry and sadness. “Daughter… I have to tell you something,” he said softly, his voice heavy with unease.
Before he could continue, his secretary entered the room, handing him a thick file. Mr. Min took it reluctantly and began scanning through its contents. His eyes widened in shock, the color draining from his face.
Rose noticed his reaction immediately. “Father… what happened?” she asked, her curiosity instantly piqued.
Without waiting for an answer, she stepped forward, snatching the file from his hands. “Let me see!” she demanded.
“Rose, wait—” her father began, trying to stop her, but she ignored him.
As she skimmed through the pages, her expression shifted from confusion to horror, then to fury. Her hands clenched around the file. “This… this can’t be true!” she exclaimed, her voice sharp with anger.
Mr. Min watched helplessly as the fire in his daughter’s eyes mirrored the storm raging in his own heart.
Rose’s eyes blazed as she slammed the file on the desk. “Jeon Jungkook wants to marry me? What the hell is this?” Her voice was sharp, trembling with a mix of anger and disbelief.
She looked at her father, her gaze fierce. “So this… this is what you wanted to tell me, right, Dad?”
Mr. Min nodded slowly, his heart aching at the way his daughter faced danger so fearlessly.
Rose scoffed, her lips curling into a smirk. “What does Jungkook think he is? I’m not scared of him. Not at all.”
She picked up the file again and turned toward the door. “I’m going, Father. I need to see this myself.”
But Mr. Min’s voice stopped her, firm and filled with worry. “Don’t go, Daughter… he’s dangerous.”
Rose paused in the doorway, one eyebrow raised, her fearless attitude unshaken. “Dangerous? That doesn’t scare me, Father. Not even a little.”
