Part 49

Finally, the locker clicked open.

Siya gasped softly.

She slowly pulled the door open.

Inside were several files and documents neatly arranged.

She reached in and took out a stack of papers.

Carefully, she started reading them.

They were land documents.

Her eyes moved across the lines until one sentence caught her attention.

It stated that if anything ever happened to Rajveer, all the property would be divided equally between Veer and Siya.

Siya exhaled slowly.

She placed the documents back inside the locker.

Then her eyes fell on something else.

A diary.

It looked old… its cover slightly worn with time.

She carefully took it out.

“What is this?” she murmured.

She opened the first page.

On the top, written in neat handwriting, were two simple words:

“My Diary.”

Siya paused.

Curious, she flipped to the next page and read a few lines.

A small smile appeared on her face.

“Mom writes a diary… really?”

Her voice carried surprise and warmth.

Without realizing it, she hugged the diary gently to her chest.

For a moment, she just stood there quietly.

Then a thought crossed her mind.

If nothing had happened… maybe I would never have found this.

She slowly placed the diary aside.

Then she searched the locker again, carefully checking every corner and every file.

But there was nothing else.

No information about the Mittals.

No hidden documents.

Nothing.

Siya sighed.

She closed the locker door slowly.

Then she picked up her mother’s diary.

Holding it carefully in her hands, she walked out of the study.

Raj Mittal was sitting in his study, staring thoughtfully at the large window.

His fingers tapped slowly on the table.

“Strange…” he murmured.

“Why hasn’t Goenka taken any step yet?”

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Before he could think further, the door opened.

Akhil entered.

Raj didn’t turn.

“Any information?” he asked calmly.

Akhil nodded. “Goenka is doing nothing for now.”

Raj finally looked at him.

“But…” Akhil continued cautiously, “I have a feeling someone is digging into our past.”

Raj’s expression didn’t change.

Instead, a cold smile slowly appeared on his lips.

“Then find out who it is,” raj said quietly.

Akhil nodded.

Raj’s voice turned colder.

“And erase them.”

The room fell silent.

Akhil understood the meaning perfectly.

He nodded once more and left the room.

Raj leaned back in his chair, his eyes dark with calculation.

“No one digs into the Mittals’ past,” he murmured to himself.

“And lives to talk about it.”

Siya was sitting quietly in the room.

Her mother’s diary rested in her hands.

She looked at it for a moment and smiled softly.

“Let’s see what you wrote, Mom,” she murmured.

She opened the first page and started reading.

In the diary

Today was my first day at the new school.

It wasn’t how I imagined it would be.

Everyone already had their own friends.

I tried talking to a few girls, but the conversations ended quickly.

Maybe tomorrow will be better.

Siya paused reading.

A small smile appeared on her face.

“Oh,” she said softly, “my mom was like this?”

She leaned back slightly, thinking.

“Meanwhile I’m completely opposite,” siya murmured.

“I just go and talk to everyone myself.”

She shook her head slightly with amusement.

“Mom was so shy… so innocent.”

Her eyes softened as she looked at the diary again.

siya turned the page and continued reading.

Siya continued reading the diary.

Then suddenly she paused.

Her eyes stopped at a line.

“My bhaiya is the best.”

Siya frowned slightly.

“It means… Mom had a brother too?” she murmured to herself.

“But Dad never told us about him… why?”

She was still lost in thought she just realised many things were hidden from her. the door opened.

Aarav entered the room.

He immediately noticed her sitting with a book in her hands.

“Reading something?” he asked casually.

Siya didn’t reply.

She was still thinking about what she had just read.

Aarav frowned slightly.

“Siya.”

She looked up. “Yes?”

“What are you reading?” he asked, walking toward her.

The moment he got closer, Siya quickly closed the diary and pulled it toward herself protectively.

Aarav raised an eyebrow he smirked and said.

“What?”

“Nothing,” she replied quickly.

He looked suspicious.

“Is it a storybook?”he asked

Siya folded her arms slightly.

“Why should I tell you?”

Aarav sighed dramatically.

“Fine,” he said. “Then I’ll see it myself.”

He reached toward the diary.

“Hey!” Siya immediately pulled it back. “Don’t you dare.”

Aarav looked at her expression and chuckled.

“Oh… now I understand.”

Siya frowned. “What?”

He leaned slightly closer and said teasingly,

“It must be one of those dirty ,dark romance stories, right?”

Siya’s eyes widened in disbelief and she said.

“What?!”

“You are shameless,” she said immediately. “I don’t read those types of books.”

Then she paused and narrowed her eyes at him.

“Wait…”

She looked at him suspiciously.

“Do you read those books ahh shameless.

Aarav burst out laughing.

Siya sighed and quickly placed the diary inside the drawer.

“Don’t touch this,” she said firmly.

Aarav only smiled at her.

Siya lay down on the bed, but her mind refused to rest.

Why did Papa never tell us about Mom’s family? she wondered.

And if Mom had a brother… where is he now?

Siya tried to remember.

But she had been very little when her mother died.

Most memories were blurred and distant.

Soon, exhaustion took over her thoughts.

Within minutes, she fell asleep.

In morning.

Siya slowly opened her eyes and sat up on the bed.

She glanced at her phone.

“It’s still early,” she murmured.

Just then, the bathroom door opened.

She looked up—

And froze.

Aarav was standing there.

Water droplets slid slowly from his damp hair down his neck and shoulders.

His chest was bare, his muscular frame still glistening from the shower.

Siya’s cheeks instantly turned pink.

She quickly turned her face away.

Aarav noticed her reaction and smirked.

He walked toward the mirror and picked up a towel, casually drying his hair.

“What happened, Mrs. Goenka?” he said teasingly.

Siya kept her face turned away and said.

“Nothing.”

Aarav glanced at her reflection through the mirror and said softly.“You woke up early today.”

Siya crossed her arms slightly.

“So what? I can wake up early if I want.”

Aarav chuckled softly.

“Of course you can.”

His smirk didn’t fade.
